Hair Extension or Integration are methods of adding commercial hair to natural hair. These methods are used to conceal thinning or hair loss in concentrated areas.
Invisible Hair Weave is a new method of extension that uses no braids or glue to attach the commercial hair to the natural hair.The most recent development in weaving extensions is lace extensions. Lace extensions are made from a nylon mesh material formed into a cap that is then hand ventilated by knotting single strands of hair into the tiny openings of the capform, giving the hair a more natural, realistic flow than conventional extensions, and creating a lighter, more breathable cap. These extension units can be woven in or attached to the hairline with special adhesives. To ensure a proper fit, head measurements are taken into account with this type of weave.
The highest quality extension hair, "virgin hair", is hair that has never been processed. The term covers all textures of American hair, European hair, Brazilian hair, Indonesian hair, and Indian hair, and is usually donated. High quality extension hair can be chemically altered to achieve different textures.
The benefits of hair weaving and extensions include the ability to wear any texture without having to chemically treat the natural hair.
Other types of extensions that can be added to the hair include ponytails, or ponytail pieces.
Just as any wig or wigpiece, the colors for hair to be weaved can range from "realistic" colors.such as red, black, brown and blonde, to other colors such as pink, blue ,green and purple.

- Determine what type of hair extension you want to wear. There are numerous types to choose from that include synthetic hair, 100 percent human hair, pony hair and yaki hair. Each of these types of hair require different maintenance so be sure to check what they require before purchasing them.
- Decide what style of hair you want to wear. This includes styles like straight, curly, wet and wavy and Italian weave. Each of these styles are so versatile in that they allow you to change the look by pulling the hair up, back or pinning it up.
- Choose from applying the weave with tucking combs, gluing in the weave or having the weave sewn in. To have the weave sewn in would require braiding of the hair. To have a professional look, employ the services of a hair professional
- Shampoo the hair extensions before applying it to the hair. This helps to wash away any manufacturing residue or oils from the hair.
- Remove the hair extensions by applying oil directly to the track (if the extension is braided in). This will separate your natural hair from the weaved in hair. This will allow you to apply light pressure by gently pulling the weave hair extension away from your hair.
- Gently shampoo the hair thoroughly after removing the hair extensions.

Hair Extensions are heaven-sent remedies for women who want long hair in an instant. Before getting extensions, know the different types available and how to properly care for them. Synthetic and human hair extensions have different treatment methods that can be harmful if applied to the other, so know the right hair extension care before you decide on getting extensions.
Here are just a few tips on hair extension care that will help to keep your extensions and your hair in a better condition:
1. Washing your hair will keep it tangle-free and clean from dirt and sweat build up. Hair tangles when dirt and sweat build up, so wash your hair after strenuous activities like exercising, biking, running, swimming, etc. It is recommended to brush your hair and remove all tangles before washing it.Wash your hair in a downward motion and ask your stylist what shampoo is best for your hair. Gradually wet the hair and brush gently before you completely wash it. This is more common with less expensive extension hair. Too much water added at once to very dry hair will make it swell up and tangle.
2. Use a soft bristle brush when styling or brushing your hair starting at the ends of the hair gently working your way up. Always brush your hair gently in a downward motion 2 or 3 times a day. Be careful with the use of blow dryers and curling irons for they shorten the duration of your extensions. Just letting your hair dry naturally is an effective hair extensions care.
3. In exercising, wear your hair up or in a ponytail to avoid sweat from wetting your hair. Also wear a cap when swimming or keep your hair out of the water. Chlorine and salt water can cause the hair to tangle and mat up.
4. Make sure your hair is completely dry before sleeping. Also wrap your hair together or gently tie it up to prevent tangling during sleep.
5. Hair care products like a good conditioner can keep your hair soft but avoid overdoing it. Too much conditioner or any other hair care product can cause a build up and tangling. Do not use hair products with alcohol content for it makes hair dry. Consult your stylist on the best products that suit your hair extensions care.
6. Enough of those other hair treatment, let your stylist take care of that. Do not perm, color or do any other chemical process to your own hair extensions for it might just ruin everything.
